Budgio — Privacy Policy

The short version: All your financial data stays on your device. We don't collect, sell, or share your transaction data with anyone. Ever.

📱 Data Stored on Your Device

Budgio stores the following data locally on your phone using encrypted storage:

Transaction history and amounts
Budget limits and categories
Upcoming obligations you've entered
Your category preferences and mappings

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it via CSV.

☁️ Data Sent to Our Servers

We use Firebase (by Google) for authentication only. The following minimal data is stored on our servers:

Your email address (for account login)
Your subscription plan status (Free, Student, or Pro)
Anonymous app usage analytics (no personal or financial data)

We do not store your transactions, budgets, or any financial information on our servers.

🔔 M-Pesa Import

Budgio imports M-Pesa transactions when you choose to forward a confirmation message to the app via Android's share feature. This is entirely user-initiated — Budgio does not read your SMS inbox, notifications, or any messages without your explicit action. Message content is processed locally on your device and never transmitted to our servers.

📊 Analytics

We collect anonymous, aggregated analytics to improve the app — such as which features are used most. This data cannot be linked to you personally and contains no financial information.

🤝 Third Parties

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. Our third-party services are limited to:

Firebase — authentication and anonymous analytics
Paystack — payment processing for Pro subscriptions (they handle payments, we don't store card details)

🗑️ Deleting Your Data

You can delete all your data at any time from within the app settings. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from your device.
